Farm news, July 27

We’ll have the following veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, turnips, radish, beets, kohlrabi, carrots, onions, beans, broccoli, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, dill, cilantro, parsley and basil.

With all the heat and rain the garden is just burping out cucumbers now.  You can actually hear the sound of belching coming from the ground as you walk down the cucumber row.   We’ve picked 480 lbs so far this week and its’ only monday!  Will we make it to 500??

My favorite way to eat a lot of cucumbers is cucumber and onion salad.  I Just chop up a cucumber and a sweet onion and add salt and vinegar.  The sweet onions you’ll be getting this week is perfect for eating raw in a salad like this.

On the farm this week:

It appears as though Sarah is eating a red object she found growing in the tomatoes.  Although we don’t know what it was for sure because she ate it, we have reason to believe it was a tomato!  The tomatoes are looking really healthy so far this year and I think we’ll have tomatoes within a couple of weeks. IMG_1663

This past weekend my dada and Emily also helped me move a greenhouse! Despite forgetting most of the tools and a ladder we managed to take it almost all apart -my dad just clenched the bolts in his teeth while I squeezed the nuts in my biceps and it worked out pretty well.

Oh, and don’t forget to sign up for natures farms eggs if you still want some.  We’ll be bringing them every 2 weeks starting next week.

That’s it for this week,

See you soon
