Farm news Oct 16/2017

Hello everyone!

This is just  a friendly reminder that the next 2 csa pick ups and markets will be only Tuesdays now.  We have 2 left: Oct 17th and Oct 24th from 3:30 – 6:30 at Robert A steen community centre.

For the next two weeks we’ll have:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, broccoli, kohlrabi, cabbage, celeriac, radish, turnip, potatos, carrots, beets, onions, squash, brussel sprouts, dill, parsley, cilantro, tomatos and peppers.

On the farm this week:

We can see the finish line and it looks so glorious, but… oh..no, it’s just a mirage because we’ve got fields of root veggies for the winter csa to still dig up over the next 2 weeks.  Still, it feels pretty relaxing know there’s just one market to get ready for this week.

Jaroslav actually asked to work all weekend.  Here’s Jaroslav planting garlic this weekend.

We have frost every morning now, so our harvest order is reversed.  Instead of harvesting greens first thing in the morning when it’s cool, we have to wait until the frost is gone and harvest other things first and the greens  when it’s warm!

Haha, Ok I cheated, this picture is from November a few years ago.

That’s it for this year!

Thanks again everyone and see you Tuesday!

Jonathan, Sarah and Jaroslav.
