Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We’ll have these veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, broccoli, eggplant, squash, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, leeks, parsley, cilantro and scallions

On the farm this week

It’s our last week of regular CSA harvest! (Though there’s still the 2 extra weeks for those who signed up for it and the winter).  For the next 2 weeks we’ll be doing pick ups on just Tuesdays and there’ll be 2 more weeks of the Wolseley farmers market on just Tuesdays from 4-6:30.

It sure felt like the summers almost over today – it was chilly and windy and we were having flashbacks of the storm in the spring when sarah’s rainsuit blew right off her.  You can tell how windy it was by looking at the broccoli leaves and sarahs hood which is blowing pretty hard to the left.  To drive back to the washstation we just put the truck in Neutral and got blown all the way back!

The fields are getting empty now and I was thinking today that over the last 18 weeks we’ve collectively spent  over 2000 hours just hauling veggies out of this field! It sounds like a lot of veggies to me when I think of it like that.

Here are the last of the brussels sprouts to be harvested.  And yes our windbreaks blew down again for the 3rd time !  I’m starting to wonder if it would have been easier to put them up right the first time?  I guess I’ll never know…

I hope everyone has enjoyed their veggies this year and thanks everyone who signed up for our csa and came to the market.    I look forward to seeing people over the winter for the winter pick ups and hope to see everyone again next spring!  Don’t forgot to hug your farmers this week for your last pick up.

That’s it for this year!
