Happy thanksgiving everyone!

We’ll have the following veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, broccoli, cabbage, kohlrabi, leeks, celery, squash, brussels sprouts, eggplant, hot peppers, cilantro, parsley and scallions.

On the farm this week:

Oct and 11 and still no frost!  This is amazing.  Although there was ice on my roof again, our cucumbers and basil died suddenly and it looks exactly as though they got frost over the weekend.   But when I went outside at noon this weekend and there wasn’t any frost.  Very peculiar.  So today we picked the last few remaining cucumbers and tilled them in and now the fields are starting to look like this.

It’s also the last week of csa pick ups(except for the 2 week extension).  I’m going to miss everyone!… But I’m also not going to lie, I’m looking forward to the end!

After this week we’ll be spending the next two week harvesting everything for the winter csa while also doing the Tuesday pick ups and market for those that extended. Sarah’s now officially back from her walk again, and will be helping with the winter harvest.  One of the last things we’ll be harvesting is this broccoli which is growing really fast right now, even in the cool weather.

Then we’ll be trying to beat the snow and get everything ready for next year:  I have some drainage projects I want to do, compost to spread, rocks to pick and beds to make all hopefully before it freezes.

That’s it….for this year!  Thank you everyone who had a csa with me this year.  I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you to say goodbye at the market this week.
