Farm news, June 30

This week we will have:

lettuce, spinach, kale, chard, broccoli, sugar snap peas, radish, turnips, scallions, kohlrabi, dill, cilantro, parsley, basil, beet greens, broccoli leaves.

On the farm:

I’ve been learning the difference between water resistant and water proof: water resistant means you get wet from the outside in.  Water proof means you get wet from the inside out.  I’m not sure which I like better.

I spent Sunday once again engaging in my favorite past time and for the past week there have been streams flowing through the fields.  In the one pictured below I took out a fishing rod and cast it and actually caught a fish right in the potato field!

Kevin has also been bringing his waterwings to the farm.  I’d never seen someone harvesting peas in waterwings until Kevin this week.  Unfortunately I don’t have a picture to prove it.    He was doing a slip and slide when I took this and didn’t end up in the picture.

Also, we’re without Devin now because he had a wrist injury.  So if any one likes picking peas and wants to come out, by next week there will hopefully be lots of them!

That’s it for this week.  Just a reminder we’ll be at the market tommorrow.  Happy Canada day!
