Farm News July 28

We’ll have the following veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, arugula, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, beets, beans, broccoli, radish, turnip, dill, parsley, basil, scallions, peppers

On the Farm this week:

We’ve got spinach back!  Spinach was one of the veggies we lost early on in summer in what the scientists had called  a lot of rain.  But the new plantings are ready now and so hopefully all the spinach fans will be happy.  Yes, I know – we’ve also got weeds.

We’ve got a new member at the farm!  Picking spinach in this picture is Caitlin who worked 3 days last week between rodeos where she races horses.  She’s already a faster spinach picker than me – she’s obviously cheating somehow.

We’ve also getting some casual help from Alex, picking cucumbers here in this picture.  Alex is a black belt in Tae kwon do and as part of his training I make him pick without a shirt on or bug spray and with one hand tied behind his back and he’s not allowed to blink all day.  He will soon be a great ninja.

That’s it for this week
