Farm news July 27/26

We’ll have choices from the following veggies this week:

Lettuce, chard, kale, beans, cucumber, zucchini, brocccoli, broccolini, carrots, beets, kohlrabi dill, cilantro, parsley, basil, green onion

On the farm this week

Well after boasting and ranting on and on about how much cucumbers we had picked on last weekend and last Monday and telling the worlds we’re giving away cucumbers I ended up being pretty embarrassed on Thursday when we showed up not having many cucumbers. I think because it was so cool and cloudy last week; that they slowed right down.

Other than that; there is nothing new this week. This week is pretty much an exact repeat of last week… except hotter. So, hopefully everyone had a good week last week.

I have finished seeding all the winter crops now. This week I seeded our beets and radish and turnip for the winter CSA. We also finished seeding our fall lettuce transplants in the nursery and there is just a couple more plantings of lettuce, spinach and herbs in the field to do in the first 2 weeks of August and we’ll be done planting for the year! I was blown away by how many people spotted the killdeer last week, because I still can’t see it and I took the picture, so I’m reluctant to offer a prize if you can you might win a prize, but I’m not saying anything this week!

And finally – I forgot to take pictures this week as you may have noticed by now; so here’s Sandra holding up some nice big broccoli. The variety of broccoli that is starting to mature now always gets really big.

That’s it for this week;

Thanks and see you soon,

Jonathan, Sarah, Sandra, Alyssa, Morgan, Shola, Adriian, Barb, Kateryna
