Farm news, Aug 31/2020

We’ll have the following veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, peppers, beans, melons, potatos, carrots, beets, onions, cucumber, zucchini, tomato, dill, cilantor, parsley, basil, green onions and hot peppers.

On the farm this week:

It rained so much last week and I was not smart this time. |I had a chance to dig potatos on Thursday, but decided it wasn’t going to rain would let it dry out some more and do it Friday. Then it poured Thursday night and so digging potatoes Friday wasn’t possible. By Sunday it was dry enough to barely be able to do dig potatoes, so thankfully Irina and Kelsey came and dug potatoes Sunday morning and then got poured on carrying them in. Also, not only is it wet, it’s cold! It does this to us every fall and I’m getting nervous. We need to get that cooler finished!

Last week was Annika and Allegras last week as they are back in school and I was unsuccessful at convincing them to drop out so they could pick beans for 2 more weeks. They picked a lot of peas and beans this summer, but its’ up to the rest of us now to finish off the bean picking this season. It’s also Michelle and Robins last week. Michelle’s regular work in film has finally picked up again and Robin has moved to her new place. We will miss them! Here they are hauling melons.

But Mallory is back and helping out for the fall now. Also,, why did I wait 11 years before I tried growing a pumpkin?! They’re so big, heavy and impractical, but so much fun! We have 3 pumpkin plants in among the squash, and so we’ll have to think of a contest to give our few pumpkins away….

That’s it for this week

See you soon!
