We’ll have choices form the following veggies this week for CSA: lettuce, chard, kale, bok choi, arugula, melon(watermelon or canteloupe) , peppers, tomato, cucumber, cabbage, celery zucchini, onion, potato, carrots, beets, dill, cilantro, parsley basil, hot peppers, scallions.
On the farm this week:
Our melons are finally ripening. They are ripening later than last year. By this time last year we were all done harvesting melons. Also, they are just starting to ripen, so we may have melons for only Full share this week and half shares next week. For every crop we grow on the farm, the time it takes form planting to harvest is almost exactly the same each year regardless of the weather. The one exception to this is melons : I never know when they are going to be ready and it’s different every year. Here’s Sandra with a watermelon.

One crop we harvest on the same day every year without fail is onions, and on Friday we finished harvesting all of them. So that’s one less thing to harvest each week! Here’s Shola who still wears his parka all summer long, but when he gets hot just takes the torso off and somehow leaves the rest on.

And we had to do some renovations on the farm bunnies home in the broccoli (I.e till it in and seed a cover crop ); so he has moved to the carrots next door. This week I caught him in the lettuce, but for some reason he chose to eat a discarded decomposing lettuce from weeks ago rather than a fresh living one.. I guess everyone has their thing they like.

That’s it for this week. See you soon!
