We will have the following veggies this week:
lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, beets, turnips, radish, broccoli, sugar snap peas, bok choi, arugula, mizuna, chinese cabbage, scallions, dill, cilantro and pea shoots. The peas are snap peas – so you can eat them in the pod.
We’re coming to the end of radish, bok choi, arugula season, but that means new things are coming, so enjoy those veggies while we still have them.
On the farm this week:
We got some more rain and it really looked like it was going to rain on the market last Thursday – people thought I had jinxed it by saying it was never going to rain, but it still didn’t rain on us. It was just the right amount of rain once again. I felt bad for everybody but Nicholas and I on wednesday because it seemed to rain the entire day they were working outside, while we were inside working on the new building which is almost done now ( got to remember to do that again next time it rains)!
Sarah who’s been doing most of the cleaning probably can’t wait the most for it to be finished. Today w couldn’t even find Sarah because we piled so many bins in the little shed we’ve been using that she was trapped in there all day.
Here’s the old shed, and actually Sarah, Irina and Jaroslav are all stuck behind these bins in this picture.
Beets are ready now – but I imagine most people are excited to what else is almost ready(below). Coming soon…..
The spider in the picture last week is spider is a wolf spider because it’s the only spider that carries it’s babies on it’s back. I didn’t actually know that, I just pretended I’m testing everyone and then get the answer and tell them they’re right. It’s like what I do with Jaroslav when I don’t know something, except after Jaroslav tells me the answer I tell him he’s wrong. A couple csa members are 2 for 2 now in the winning free radish game, so for a chance to go 3 for 3, can anyone tell me what is this caterpillar that I often find on dill?
That’s it for this week. See you soon!
Jonathan, Sarah, Irina, Jaroslav and Nicholas.
