Farm News, Oct 5/2015

We’ll have the following veggies this week:

lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, squash, brussel sprouts, leeks, eggplant, potatoes, onions, carrots, beets, dill, cilantro, parsley and scallions.

On the farm this week

The green house is almost up and the plants inside didn’t get trampled on(too much)!   Sunday was greenhouse day and it was really nice to have some people come out and help put it all together.  Inside are chard, spinach and kale, but they’ve been neglected all summer and so I don’t have a lot of hope for them this winter – next winter

The farm definitely looks different now after the big frost we had last monday.  I’m still amazed though how warm is and that we’ve only had one frost one week into October.

Because we miss working in minus 10 mornings, we decided to offer a 2 week extension on the csa.  Our record is 21 weeks of harvest a few years ago, and it seems like this is a good year to try to beat that record, but now with the winter csa I figure 20 weeks is good.  The extra 2 weeks will be $50 and to sign up for the extension just send an email to: jonathansfarm@gmail.com

Also, for everyone interested in Apple Cider, Betty will be at the market both Tuesday and Thursdays with her Kerr apple cider.

That’s it for this week.  See you soon,
Jonathan, Nicole, Sarah.
