We’ll have the following veggies this week:
lettuce mix, spinach, bok choi, radish, turnips, green onions, cilantro, arugula, mizuna, tatsoi, beet greens and pea shoots.
It’s mostly the same veggies as last week except for pea shoots and I think everyone loves pea shoots who’s tried them. They add a nice flavour and texture to salad, but you can also try one of the recipes posted on this site. We’ll have some other veggies ready soon, so try to enjoy the super greens right now There’s almost enough broccoli ready now – so we may have broccoli by Thursday.
This week on the farm:
Lots of people have been asking about the new farm, and so far it feels pretty luxurious: We’ve got running water – both hot and cold, washrooms, a kitchen and heat! I imagine heaven has running hot and cold water, and if I’m right about that, then I think I may have bought heaven. I’ve been having about 3 showers a day just because I can. The best part so far is that there aren’t any mosquitos. This morning it was calm and overcast and I was certain there’d be lots of mosquitos out, but there weren’t any! I really don’t know what I’m going to complain about this year and it’s starting to make me unhappy, because as everyone knows, I’m only happy when I have something to complain about.
This year you’ll also be seeing lots of Sarah in the newsletter. Every time I take out my camera Michael has vanishes. I think he might be a vampire because he was standing right beside Sarah when I took this picture and his shadow is still there but he isnt’!. So here’s Sarah and Michael trellising the tomatoes This year we gave the tomatoes extra love and a micronutriend fertilizer blend so we’re hoping they’ll be really good.
Sarah will also be trading off at the Wolseley market with me. As much as I love everyone, I realized I’m just getting too old for so many long days in a row. So hopefully I’ll be taking a nap tomorrow around 4 pm!
That’s it for this week.
See you soon,
Jonathan, Nicole, Sarah and Michael
