We’ll have choices form the following veggies for CSA this week:
lettuce, spinach, arugula. pea shoots, green onion, radish, bok choi
On the farm this week:
We have vegetables to harvest from the field this week! Actually last week we were able to harvest this lettuce from the field just in time for the Thursday pick up. Now all the lettuce is from the field. I didn’t take a recent picture, but this is a picture of the spinach that we’ll start harvesting tomorrow. This picture is exactly 2 weeks old. That’s Morgan and Sandra digging up quack grass. We have many patches of quack grass and dandelions in the field and some days it feels like we are losing the battle and spent many days this spring digging up those weeds.

We also mostly finished planting this week. Before harvest starts the goal is to have all our transplanting done except for the fall broccoli and are weekly lettuce planting. This year we didn’t make, but have now caught up with our planting.
Here’s everyone planting our fall cabbage:

And can you imaging working all day long with a fire alarm going off that you can’t turn off? That’s what it’s like working in some areas right now. Every year, we have multiple kildeer nests in the field and when we are working close they do not stop screaming at us and it is soo annoying! People from previous years might remember that they lay their eggs in the stubble of the same crop every year with out exception. And this year was the same! Here’s one of their nests in this years potatoes that are just sprouting. Do you know what stem from last years’ crop is lying there?

That’s it for this week. See you soon!
