Farm News, Oct 7

This week we’ll have the following veggies:

lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, brussels sprouts, broccoli, onions, potatoes, carrots, beets, squash, dill, cilantro, parsley, scallions, peppers, celery,

On the farm this week:

It’s starting to feel like christmas on the farm – just without the presents.  We had a good frost Sunday morning and it looks like the regular frosts are happening now, so we finished getting the rest of the squash out of the field.  Last Sunday was maybe the best day all year – Sarah returned from her walk!  She’s been walking to Canada from Mexico all summer and planned to be back sept, but she just showed up at the farm Sunday having walked straight to the farm from Mexico and the first thing she wanted to do was work.

Meanwhile on the other farm – rock picking is done! Nicole stopped by to help out despite not impressed with my method of carrying them in 5 gallon pails.    Next there will be 150 tonnes of compost arriving this week (hopefully) and compost spreading will commence friday so long as it’s not raining!IMG_1351

Finally, we will be offering a 2 week extension on the csa pickup – right to the end of Oct.  If you’re interested in that you can email me at jonathansfarm@gmail.com for details.  Novemember winter csa pickups will begin, so also please email me if you’re interested in that.

That’s all for this week.  See you soon!
